Montana Governor Greg Gianforte joined the Montana Financial Education Coalition at its Financial Education Conference in Helena on March 19, 2024. During his stop at the MFEC Conference, Governor Gianforte signed a proclamation which designated April 2024 as Financial Literacy Month in Montana. This proclamation is especially timely as last year a personal finance class requirement was implemented for Montana high school students beginning with the graduating class of 2026.

The Governor’s proclamation stated, “it is essential that Montanans of all ages and backgrounds be financially literate, responsible, and able to properly manage money and investments and by increasing the financial knowledge of Montanans, they can improve the quality of their lives, develop skills for success, as well as strengthen the economy.”

MFEC President Jennell Huff, noted that financial literacy empowers everyone to make informed decisions, build wealth, and secure their future. “Understanding how to manage money is like having a superpower in today’s world. The MFEC is committed to supporting our partners in helping to equip everyone with this essential life skill.”
