MCUCD supports the presence of consumer resource centers located at credit unions throughout Montana. Consumer resource centers are located in branch lobbies and provide credit union members with information to help them make sound financial decisions. The centers are located in 33 credit unions serving 42 counties in Montana.

A well-established program, consumer resource centers provide a basis for credit union staff and members to converse about a wide range of financial topics, such as budgeting, identity theft, purchasing a car, and taxes. The resource centers are an opportunity for credit union staff to partner with members to strengthen their economic position in a way that goes beyond a simple commercial relationship.

As the charitable arm of the Montana Credit Union Network (MCUN), MCUCD is always looking for ways to increase support to credit unions in their mission to help members achieve financial independence through services like low-interest lending and individual development accounts (IDAs).

Other efforts MCUCD is undertaking include a new matched savings account to help Montana’s students finance higher education, a public awareness campaign to promote the small value loans offered by credit unions, and partnerships with various organizations to expand the reach of the free tax-filing service, VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance).
