Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has officially signed a proclamation designating April 2025 as Financial Literacy Month in Montana. This proclamation is especially timely as personal finance class requirements continue to be implemented for Montana high school students beginning with the graduating class of 2026.

The Governor’s proclamation stated, “it is essential that Montanans of all ages and backgrounds be financially literate, responsible, and able to properly manage money and investments and by increasing the financial knowledge of Montanans, they can improve the quality of their lives, develop skills for success, as well as strengthen the economy.”

MFEC President Jennell Huff, noted that financial literacy empowers everyone to make informed decisions, build wealth, and secure their future. “Understanding how to manage money is like having a superpower in today’s world. The MFEC is committed to supporting our partners in helping to equip everyone with this essential life skill.”
